Please join us for an important Community Meeting in the Slater Center Auditorium on Thursday, January 26, 2023 @ 6:00 PM!
Featured Speakers:
Lois Gibbs – Love Canal activist, the “mother of Superfund,” and founder of the Center for Health and Environmental Justice (CHEJ)
Stephen Lester – Harvard-trained toxicologist and Science Director at CHEJ
This meeting is an incredible opportunity for everyone affected by the Bristol VA Landfill.
Lois and Stephen will share from their experiences with environmental issues, followed by a Question & Answer session. We want to give as many residents as possible the chance to ask questions. In the interest of time, your questions/comments will be limited to 2 minutes in length. The Q&A is also a good time to explain what type of help or relief your household needs, and to ask about ways we can make that relief happen.
The goal of this meeting is to inspire each one of us to use our voices together. We hope you will sign-up at this event to receive weekly “Call to Action” alerts from HOPE for Bristol, where together we will work toward relief from the landfill gases, a “safety plan” for our cities during work at the landfill, long-term air monitoring around the landfill, and any other need that arises due to this environmental disaster.
The Slater Community Center is located at 325 McDowell St, Bristol, TN 37620. Parking is free. The doors to the Auditorium will open at 5:30pm.
